200 not out

Hello! We're very excited here today, *hic*, for you see - oh, slice of cake, don't mind if I do - this is our 200th blog post! Hooray!

A year after we first started and we've covered all manner of topics, gone through a global recession, hosted a star-studded awards, and had a website relaunch. Busy busy!

And blog 201 will be along later today...

Under the skin

A New Zealand airline company has hit upon an ingenious way to make the flight safety video a little more entertaining: present it in the nude! But, while having the uniforms painted on to look as if they are wearing clothing. Confused? Take a look here

As you can see those in the video can barely contain their laughter and it's testament to some clever camera work that more intimate areas are not exposed. But you have to say, the ties and scarves are certainly well done; they do look quite real.

Hat's off

Just a little link - article on hats on today's BBC Magazine section.

Word of mouth

The trouble with letting people write their own opinions on things online is that they can abuse the system for the purposes of comedy. This can lead to some odd occurences, perhaps none odder than the story that a T-shirt on Amazon has risen 2,300% through the Amazon rankings in the last few days.

This happened after users started to read endless positive, 5-star, tongue in cheek reviews of the T-shirt, in a collective joke that has had unforseen consequences. This is not the first time this has happened on Amazon - a photo of Paul Ross has equally positive reviews, although we don't think the reviews have increased sales. People still have some sense.

Grovelling apology

Sorry! In all the coming and going and general jiggery-pokery of producing a magazine yesterday's blog seemed to get overlooked. It's not to say we forgot about out (anyone who follows our Twitter will have seen our pleas for ideas) but when none were forthcoming we didn't really get much searching done ourselves.

Anyways, we promise a much better return today - we've already got a few things lined up and hope you'll enjoy them, or even just read them.

Light my fire

Since time began man has had a difficult relationship with fire. It gives us warmth, it also burns things down. Being the innovative human race that we are though, we decided a dedicated bunch of people who fought fires would be a good idea...a brigade of fire fighters if you will.

These people needed clothing - clothing that identified them and protected them from the various dangerous they would face working such a dangerous job. Which brings us to the point of this blog post - The Guardian has put together a briliant slideshow of uniforms through the ages, ending at the present day with the latest rollout. You can see them all here.

Hair today, clothing tomorrow

A Romanian woman has made clothes out of her own hair, having grown it for many years to be able to carry out the work. In total she has made nine garments from the work - including a skirt, raincoat and a pair of gloves - and she says they are all 'comfortable and warm'. While Company Clothing applauds the innovation and the craftwork, you'll forgive us if we find it a little odd and keep human hair and clothing seperate.

Fame at last, or sorts

During the snow dump of last week we blogged about the hat fashion of Jack Straw - as you can see here - and today we discovered the very constituency that Mr Straw is from, Blackburn, have written a blog about a blog he wrote about the stick he got for wearing...the boots! Oh it's all so confusing.

Still, it's nice to see we're reaching the key movers and shakers in Westminster. Now if only they'd change our name to Company Clothing, rather than just the more powerful sounding, but incredibly vague, Company, we'd be on to a real winner!

Plus don't forget - it's one calender month today until the awards - if you haven't got a ticket for the event of the year, host by the lovely Myleene Klass, what on earth are you waiting for? The moon on a stick?! Go here, now!

Don't pop it!

Balloon fashion is not something you've probably heard of. Company Clothing hadn't and we pride ourselves on trying to keep up with every market from fashion to footwear or body armour to beret's. But when we came across this website we were amazed to see some of the designs on display. They are incredible!

As you can see from the two images we have selected, they range from the elegant to the fun and really show what a little imagination, and a lot of huffing and puffing, can achieve.

The website has a vast array of designs and it only takes a few minutes to be blown away by the clothing on show. The only danger we can see though, is what happens if someone starts popping them. Imagine if someone came to a fancy dress party as a cactus and you came in these balloons? Chaos!

Hmmm

Well we've been going for almost 50 days now and had over 1000 visitors! Hooray! But for a milestone day we've been undermined by the lack of good, interesting or quirky clothing stories we usually find every day on the interweb.

However, if you've been checking back on here to read one and been disappointed, never fear, this blog is a home to plenty of other things you can - there's the poll on the right hand side (just scroll down slighty) / a list of other blogs and links we like you can go and spend a merry minute or 10 perusing / or you can read back through some of our past stories and think of some interesting comments to leave, or reply to those that are there.

Hopefully normal service will resume tomorrow and a plethora of stories shall come flooding in.

On display

A nice article here on the BBC Magazine section of their website about the increasing fashion trend of wearing clothing that reveals a little bit of underwear.
