The Beatles! Marvellous band. So says, well, everyone. In fact, in honour of the launch of these remastered albums and The Beatles: Rockband, we thought it would be fun to look at some of the fantastic outfits worn by the fab four.

There were the suits from the pop period - a look that has been copied many times over by earnest boybands.

The awesome military style suits from the Sgt Peppers period.

The dark and brooding look - arty.

The Abbey Road ensemble; complete with undertaker's suit.

Suit Rock

News today has revealed the leader singer of popular youth band Maximo Park has his own tailor to make sure the designs of his suits are able to withstand his energetic leaping around on stage.

Paul Smith (the singer - not the designer), said, "He's really good at adapting to my needs because I jump around quite a lot - there's certain places on my outfit where there's some stretchier little knots and fabric."

Paul said he uses the outfits to stand out at heavier festival so crowds remember the band:"We've played at heavy metal festivals in Slovakia where nobody knew who we were, and I am wearing a white suit and a white hat trying to deliberately stand out."

He should just be thankful he's not Patrick Wolf whose cape (yes, cape) has gone missing, and he wants it back. These rock stars eh?

Euro Vision

So Eurovision is upon us. Company Clothing has little interest in the music on offer, but the costumes, well they are something else. Often garish, rarely stylish, and almost always outlandish, it's fun to see how a nation chooses to represent itself through music and fashion.

It's unlikely anyone will ever top Lordi from Finland though - look at them in this picture with their flowers. Ridiculous! However, if you know / remember a more OTT outfit please let us know in the comments form below. Nice how that rhymes. Have a good weekend!

You Gotta Roll With It

So, in a bizarre (simple) twist of fate, after yesterday's enjoyment at listing band names with clothing in the title, we read today that Liam Gallagher, 'im out of that Oasis band, is to launch a new clothing range called, Pretty Green - in honour of a The Jam song, not because it's somewhat environmentally friendly.

This trend of celebrity designers is nothing new, with every actor, actress, musician, and so on, thinking they have designs and styles to wow the world. It must be somewhat gauling for people out there who actually do this for a living and know what it takes to see someone rock up and doodle off a few designs, and then take all the credit.

Still, that's the way of the world isn't it? With that melancolic, but realistic assessment of Earth 2009, we'll bid you, happy weekend, and see you on Monday - it just never stops does it? Bye!

Simply Red

Virgin has chosen to celebrate 25 years in the biz by highlighting the impact they made to the world of air travel in their eye-catching red uniforms. Try here if your youtube is blocked.

The ad, which features 80s references a-plenty - miner's strikes on the front pages, massive mobile phones, Wimpy bars, and soundtracked by seminal hit 'Relax' - underline the impact a distinctive, eye-catching uniform can make. Indeed the other air hostesses in the advert are portrayed wearing drab, grey outfits that are completely outshone by their rival's red ensemble.

As we found when we covered the new Emirate Airlines uniform design and rollout, airline uniforms are a fundamental part of brand image and Virgin clearly know this, using theirs as the focal point for this ad campaign.

Morris dancing for extinction?

The news that Morris dancers fear their dance could become 'extinct' because people are too embarrassed to take it up is a sad one. However, surely only the most ardent Morris dancer could deny that it might be because their outfit is a bit, well, ridiculous.

There's nothing wrong with that in principal of course, and in fact at some stages in history it was probably something fancy and outlandish. But now it is a bizarre mix of bells and braces and you can understand why some people may be reluctant.

Perhaps all it needs is a bit of a revamp, an update of sorts. Incorporate a hooded element, pockets for Ipods, that sort of thing. What do you think? Is the uniform to blame, or does the dancing have something to do with it as well?

The gloves are on (and so is the music)

A new glove from The North Face called the eTip (hmm like iPod...) has reportedly been flying off the shelves as people want to get their mitts on, er, mitts, that let them control their MP3 devices through the ends of the glove - ah, that explains the name!

It's a common problem actually, the old glove / music player trade off and if the eTip is able to remove this annoying fiddly problem then it's no wonder it's doing well - apparently there is only one pair left in the Leed's branch of the store - it's probably gone by now, but if you're in
the Leeds area let us know.

If you're off skiing, running, walking in the cold winter weather - and man it has been cold this week - then gloves are useful and if they can be worn and still let you use your MP3 player without hinderance, so much the better.

Right, do excuse us, Company Clothing is just off to this wonderful sounding winter wonderland in Dorset for a Christmas holiday...what?!

Music in your clothes

Here's a nifty piece of clothing that combines modern needs with simple style. A coat designed specifically for the carrying of Ipods. You can see the controls that link to the device on the right hand sleeve of the picture (as you look at it).

With so many people 'plugged' in to their music devices these days it's not surprising there is a market for garments which can accommodate the devices in the most efficient, simple ways, so users can get the most out of them.

Lyrics to be put on T-shirts

EMI and Sainsbury's have struck a deal to allow Sainsbury's clothing bran 'Tu Clothing' to publish the lyrics to famous songs such as Wild Thing by The Troggs.

Jonathan Channon, executive vice president for EMI, said: "Classic songs are part of the fabric of everybody's lives, and we’re delighted that people will now be able to wear their favourite songs through this deal." Very witty.

You could take this supermarket / clothing selling further. They could print the lyrics to Jean Genie on jeans, or maybe sell berets next to the raspberrys. Any more offerings readers?
